Directories, Catalogues and other reference books are usually generated from a publishing database. Our philosophy is to take page composition to new heights of automation. This means that the process of creating pages is very fast, but more importantly, the page composition process can become a cost effective database proofing tool to be used though the whole publishing cycle.

Page composition for the prelims indexes etc
The service will provide a complete set of pages for print, including title pages, prelims, lists, indexes and tables. Indexes can be generated from the main pages, and page number cross references can be resolved. Although page composition can be highly automated, this does not preclude final press corrections.

Data conversion into XML
The batch Page Composition engine is driven from an XML data stream. Any data supplied to us (including from Microsoft Word) will be converted to “Well Formed XML” before being submitted to page makeup. This means that an XML version of the published data is available for our customers to use for other purposes – it is an ideal feed to a Web Page. See also our White Paper on XML
