For many years, we have been creating professionally formatted pages from Word files.
To demonstrate our Word to XML conversion process, we invite you to send an email to
demo55@dlxml.com with the subject line of dlxml:demo/ and with your Word file attached.

A structured XML file will be returned to you by email in a few minutes. This file will open in Internet Explorer to show the XML structure.

This conversion is intended to be used where Word is used in a structured way as an authoring tool. This would require the creation of a Word template with paragraph and character styles that would be applied to identify structural elements. As a simple example, a company_name style would be assigned to that part of a document that contained the Company Name. In fact, some complex publishing ventures have been based on this simple idea, with very large templates being created to meet all the strucuring requirements.
Our conversion will preserve styled elements, it creates CALS style table tagging, it preserves footnoting, it converts symbol font characters to Unicode numeric entities, etc. It discards most typography such as font changes, point size changes etc, but it keeps any bold, italic, superior or subscript calls.

This conversion is an ideal tool for developing a process to take Word legacy files to a full XML content management system.
